Residency 2: Transforming the HBCU Campus and Faculty Culture to Broaden Participation in STEM Programs
From November 21 to November 24, CASL brought our twelve faculty fellows to the North Carolina A&T State University campus in Greensboro, NC for our second residency which included an immersion into the history of activism at HBCUs, opportunities and challenges to the transformation of STEM programs, and more. Key learning outcomes in Section 2 of our Leadership Development Program emphasize the assessment of campus and faculty cultures, including issues of race, ethnicity, gender, and intersectionality, and the role of our Fellows in helping transform the campus and faculty environment to broaden participation in STEM programs.
Our second residency included an in-depth visit to the International Civil Rights Center & Museum and the February One Monument on the North Carolina A&T State University campus. STEM leaders from 15 different #HBCU campuses pictured! @ncatsuaggies pic.twitter.com/ZVpPQ0PQDo

Hugely pertinent talk given by @JLCS06 at the CASL Residency for 2019 on the theme ‘The Institution Must Persist’. The country needs HBCUs to thrive in order for the country to thrive! @weareCASL @HBCUDigest pic.twitter.com/tJPmzR3t6O
